Scripture of the Day (Psalm 23)

1  The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

6 Psalms for your Christian Walk (Sunday Devotional)

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth!   Psalms 46:10 NKJV

  • Do you miss going to Sunday church services like you did in 2019?

Most churches I know, due to the pandemic, are featuring small singing ensembles –  in lieu of large choirs like the one in the video below.  Such choirs can add a lot to the worship experience.

  • If you really want to ‘go to church’ this morning: Play the video, read the six Psalm scriptures below, and say the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6: 9b – 13, NMB).
  • The gospel song is based on a hymn, Pass me not O Gentle Savior – written by Fanny Crosby in 1868.
  • The 6 scriptures are from the book of Psalms.

SCRIPTURES

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 27:14 KJV

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Psalms 19:14 NRSV

But the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

Psalms 147:11 NRSV

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Psalms 46:10 NKJV

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

Psalms 42:11 NKJV

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.   4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 23:1,4 (KJV)

The Lord’s Prayer

Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

I Will Go In Jesus’ Name (Hezekiah Walker)

Video

  • You know you’re anointed when you sound this good in a rehearsal!  After featuring a live version of Hezekiah Walker’s Love Fellowship Crusade Choir on Tuesday, I remembered this video.  I love when gospel song lyrics reference Bible scripture.  To God be the glory.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
just call on His name, You’ll have the victory.
Consider Your ways, acknowledge Him,
and He’ll direct Your path”.
