The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Psalm 34:17-19 (NKJV)
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 (NKJV)

He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
If Russell Wilson isn’t an example of a Christian man who knows where his strength comes from, who his Real Boss is, I don’t know who is? To have a Playoff NFL game start so poorly yesterday for the Seattle Seahawks, and then have the NFC Team end up winning the game is, as far as Wilson, I, and many are concerned, God’s favor at work!
Wilson is a gifted Quarterback; his faith in God is one of his core strengths. Like another God-fearing, Christian NFL Quarterback, Cam Newton (post), I’ve featured Wilson (Ask, Seek, and Knock post) on this site before.
- To have a zero (0) Quarterback Rating in the 1st quarter of the Sunday afternoon football game against the Green Bay Packers and then, in the last 5 minutes of regulation and Overtime, go 179 degrees and win was a sight to see. A miracle perhaps. Guess what? Who better to spark a Miracle than the Lord and a God-trusting Quarterback like Russell Wilson!
- Wilson gave credit to God and his Team in an emotional, post-game Interview:
- The New Testament scripture (John 3:30) that led this blog can be found on Russell Wilson’s Twitter home page.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:21-24 (NKJV)
All nations whom You have made Shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name. For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God.
Psalm 86:9-10 (NKJV)
“Fear God,” he shouted. “Give glory to him. For the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all the springs of water.”
