Do you want to embody the Spirit of Christ in your life? These five scriptures are a good place to start.
Matthew 25:40; Matthew 19:14; Jeremiah 22:3; Isaiah 10:1-2; Matthew 25:42-43 NAS
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40
But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
‘Thus says the LORD, “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one who has been robbed from the power of his oppressor. Also do not mistreat or do violence to the stranger, the orphan, or the widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place. Jeremiah 22:3
Woe to those who enact evil statutes And to those who constantly record unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice And rob the poor of My people of their rights, So that widows may be their spoil And that they may plunder the orphans. Isaiah 10: 1-2
For I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ Matthew 25:42 – 43
I did not choose these verses I will confess. They were chosen by MSNBC’s Ali Velshi in a segment he called “What Would Jesus Do?” (in response to the Bible, Romans 13:1, being used by US Attorney General to justify the uncaring border policies of the current administration). Scripture taken out of context can often be used to justify the unjustifiable. The 1st verse of Romans 13 was used by American slaveowners and Nazis in Germany too.
- I felt they conveyed well the spirit of my personal Savior Jesus Christ.
