Have a little talk with my Jesus
Tell Him all about our troubles
He’ll hear our famous cry
And He will answer by and by.
As I mediated on these words spoken by Jesus in the Bible, the hymn whose words lead and end this post came to mind – “Just a Little Talk with Jesus”. Be you buried in your Bible, or in the midst of a prayer, a Christian’s relationship with God’s son is where ‘the rubber hits the road’! I’m sharing a few red-letter words spoken by Jesus Christ on this day, Good Friday – when he shed his blood for all children of God.
- The last words of Christ, on the cross at Calvary (Good Friday), can be found in John 19:30:
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
As you worship this Easter weekend, keep Jesus’ words in mind. Those below are from the Book of Matthew; tomorrow I’ll share a few from the Book of John.
- “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)
- Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” (Matthew 9:37)
- Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
Feel a little prayer wheel a-turning
You know, a little fire is a-burning
Have a little talk with my Jesus
Gonna make it right.
