In a 1997 Interview (America’s Renaissance Woman) in High Point NC, when asked ‘when she realized she had talent’ Maya Angelou said in her answer:

I believe that each of us comes from the Creator trailing wisps of glory.    So at this wonderful, young age of 65, I don’t know yet what the Lord has for me to do.    I try to live up to the energy and to the calling, but I wouldn’t dare say I have even scratched the surface yet.

  • The poet, author, and storyteller passed away yesterday at the age on 86 in North Carolina.

From the Angelou Family (Guy B. Johnson, Maya Angelou’s son):

She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace. The family is extremely appreciative of the time we had with her and we know that she is looking down upon us with love. (Official Maya Angelou website).
