So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11 NKJV)
Our Waymaker: Sovereign and Mighty
Do you feel that God can ‘make a way out of no way’? I do. On my own Christian walk, since Fall 2008, I’ve personally experienced and witnessed ‘Ways’ made for myself and many others.
- The 2nd Pillar of Christian Assurance: Sovereign Waymaker and Merciful Shepherd (23rd Psalm, John 10); see Pillar Page for all Scripture for this Pillar.
- The 9 Pillars of Your Christian Assurance was debuted on January 15th.
- The Bible tells us of God’s extraordinary, sovereign power in Isaiah 55:8-11 and Ephesians 3:20-21. His words do not ‘return to him void’; his ways and thoughts are higher than the ways and thoughts of all others. Moreover, He can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. To put it simply, he is a Sovereign Waymaker.
- Sam Storms, Senior Pastor, Bridgeway Church, poignantly states that:
“God in Scripture is said to be omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent has not been, is not, and never will be—under any and all imaginable circumstances—localized, ignorant, or impotent. What he is, he always is.” [Emphasis added]
That is about as powerful a description of what God is (and will continue to be) as I’ve seen! (Thanks Pastor Storms) In concluding his thoughtful article, “Does God Ever Change His Mind?”, he also states:
“God is dependable! Our trust in him is therefore a confident trust, for we know that he will not, indeed cannot, change. His purposes are unfailing, and his promises unassailable.”
