You are the epitome of everything Ill ever need. I’m so in awe of you. Lord you leave me speechless . . . The way you care for me. Throughout the hands of time. I’m searching for the words to say. Lord you take my breath away.
Anita Wilson in “Speechless” – lyrics (partial above) & video (below) – speaks the truth about the Lord our God! The gifted gospel singer let’s the Almighty know how she feels.
The 1st Habit of Highly Effectual Christians is:
- The Almighty is a Powerful and Sovereign Waymaker: An awareness of His Power.
As noted on September 28th in the “What is Assurance?” post which introduced the 6 Habits of Highly Effectual Christians, I feel Isaiah 55: 8 – 11 expresses God’s Mightiness as well as any scripture in the entire Bible.
What a Mighty God we Serve
The power and sovereignty of the Heavenly Father, from both the Old and New Testament:
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (Ephesians 6:10-11)
O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress. (Isaiah 33:2)
[Emphasis added; NIV translation]
A member of the Gospel Choir at my church, one song we sing every few months or so fits this ‘God is mighty’ habit like a glove! Stephen Hurd’s “Revelation 19:1” song opens:
Hallelujah, salvation and glory. Honor and power unto the Lord our God. For the Lord our God is mighty. Yes, The Lord our God is omnipotent. The Lord, our god, He is wonderful.
One who isn’t aware of God’s power isn’t going to be able to put on a protective ‘armor of God’. However, one who is keenly aware of the omnipotent Waymaker that the Lord is will be truly blessed.
Grace, Mercy, and peace to you.
